MeeVee Exclusive! Interview with Supernatural's Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles
I've put some questions from this interview you can read all the interview by the site
How is the series progressing toward those goals?
Jensen Ackles: I
think it’s going really well. At the beginning, I was concerned about
where it was going to go. It seems to be all going, though, according
to plan, like a giant road map -- which helps us as actors to be
consistent from week to week. I’m thrilled with the way things are
going, and I know it’s just getting better.
Jared: I’m also very happy with how the season is progressing. I think in the first season, there’s a learning curve for everybody -- the actors are finding the characters, the writers are trying to figure out what works, who’s doing what with dialogue and story. Recently, we’ve been working harder and pushing the envelope. You can really feel now that it’s a well-oiled machine.
Every fan of the show wants to know how the car always gets fixed up each episode?
Jensen: It’s Supernatural! (laughter)
How much of the show’s success is the relationship of the brothers versus the supernatural?
Jensen:
Ninety-nine percent is the relationship between us guys, and the other
one percent is what the writers cook up, like vampires and bugs.
With that kind of pressure, how’s the chemistry between you guys, off camera and on?
Jared:
It’s pretty effortless. We’re pretty similar and have similar
interests, same hobbies. We’re both very laid-back guys. We take our
work very seriously, and we like to work on our characters and like to
have a good time. We keep the mood on the set fun. We just click. We
have a fantastic time, we have a fantastic crew in Vancouver, and it’s
all been very organic.
Jensen: I think it’s also just the common love we share for the show. We really look out for each other when we’re working with guest directors, and I think we just truly want this to be a great program. It’s very neat to have that relationship with a costar, very rare.

Eclipse Magazine: Q&A Creator Eric Kripke Answers Fans questions in the convention from LA third part (29 march 2008)
Posted by: Anna Beck in Conventions, Hollywood Insider, Television
For better or worse, Eric Kripke, the creator, Executive Producer and writer of CW’s popular series Supernatural has made the fans an important part of his show, and not just as ratings numbers. He has often stated that he has a roadmap for the series, a core story that he wants to tell, which he has never wavered from. “It’s the saga of the Winchester clan — who the brothers really are, who their parents really are, why Demons are so closely intertwined with them, and what their destiny really is. It’s an epic, emotional, family story at its heart.” Outside of that core story there are elements that come and go and his writing team is flexible enough to make those adjustments. He states that a decision to keep or discard a storyline combines elements of writers’ opinion, the realities of actors’ schedules, and even opinions of the fans on occasion. Fan response is valued such that when they overwhelmingly reject something across multiple online forums, it is given proper attention. “There’s always room to make the show better, and that means trying new things, keeping the things that work, losing the things that don’t.”
This humble admission truly elevates Eric Kripke to a unique position among showrunners. If the excellent writing, acting and directing were not enough to entice the viewer, then feeling like an integral part of the creative process certainly is. That and the fact that Eric appears to be a fan’s best friend — someone to sit down with, share a cup of coffee, and have an open exchange of ideas for story elements that are past, present and future.
Without a doubt, Supernatural is HIS baby. But unlike other parents who have no interest in anyone’s input regarding the development of their children, this is one parent who is willing to listen to input that might make the child-rearing process a bit smoother for all. And this is indeed rare. For fans of genre shows, who generally tend to obsess more than normal, such form of collaboration only serves to increase the obsession tenfold. This ultimately results in a form of over-protectiveness of the show and its main characters that easily puts all older brothers to shame and makes for a very vociferous fandom. For better or worse.
This final part of the Question & Answer session took place at the Salute to Supernatural Convention sponsored by Creation Entertainment and held in Los Angeles a few weeks ago. It will cover the analytical discussions about the mythology, what we can expect for Season Four, and just how painful this season’s finale will be for viewers to watch. Answers containing spoilers for the remainder of the third season, as well as the upcoming fourth season, have been labeled so that the reader can safely skip over those questions.

In Part 1 we heard about the classic rock music used on the show, his inspiration, difficulties created by budget problems, a possible future visit to the big screen, what we can expect in the DVDs, and what he thinks about the manner in which this show resonates with so many people.
Part 2 will deal with specifics about a variety of episodes, past and present, as well as changes in the look of the show, favorite directing moments, why certain characters stay or go, and so much more. Episodes are mentioned from all seasons and up through episode 3.12, so if you have not seen them, then there are spoilers in the answers.

In honor of this week’s return of new episodes of Supernatural following the extended hiatus caused by the writer’s strike, we hear from the showrunner himself answering fan questions.
Few people would remember the name of Oscar Levant from the 1930’s and 40’s but there is no doubt that many are familiar with one of his most famous quotes: there is a fine line between genius and insanity. And these are the most widely used adjectives that fans have applied when referring to Eric Kripke, the creator, Executive Producer, writer, and even one-time director of CW’s popular series Supernatural. The show revolves around the adventures of the Winchester brothers as they strive to carry out their motto of Saving People, Hunting Things — the Family Business. It features unique paranormal hunts based on widely accepted urban legends, playing alongside unexpected plot twists that fans have often labeled as genius. Equally, some of those plot twists bringing changes to the successful formula of the show have been seriously questioned to the point of being labeled as insanity. It appears Oscar may have been right… a fine line indeed!

Supernatural Returns: Burning Questions Answered!

Supernatural LA Con: Jensen and Jared by Cynthia (SF Universe)
Supernatural LA Con: Jensen and Jared
For the past week, I’ve been trying to write my report on the last day of the recent Supernatural Convention in Los Angeles and I’ve had no luck. It’s not that nothing happened on the last day, no, quite the opposite. The trouble is, there was so much going on I don’t know where to begin!
Sunday was the day Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles made their combined con appearance. A breakfast meeting, photo ops, autograph sessions, single Q & A’s and then one with the both of them. That’s more J2 than any one fan can handle!
There was an electric buzz around the con starting as early as eight in the morning as fans who couldn’t afford the VIP breakfast tickets lined up for their photo ops. There were glimpses of Jared as he was taken from here to there. A quick blur that was Sandy McCoy rushing toward the green room. No Jensen spottings. . . but it’s still early.

Supernatural LA Con: Eric Kripke aka Mr. Stop Sign by Cyntia (SF Universe)
Supernatural creator, Eric Kripke took the stage on Saturday night at the Los Angeles Supernatural Convention. It was a rare appearance for the man known as Joss Whedon’s love child, and yet the room was pretty empty. (Most people waiting for Sunday and the arrival of “the boys.”) To the man’s credit, he not only stayed to answer all of the questions the fans had for him, but then he signed autographs for free for everyone in the room and he looked thrilled to do it.
KRIPKE TAKES THE STAGE
Throughout his talk, two things were fairly obvious.
1. He loves the fans but we make him crazy. Funny, Jensen made a similar remark about golf!
“I want to make you guys happy,” he proclaimed. “But you’re never happy. It’s so quixotic!”

Eric Kripke Chats About ‘A Very SUPERNATURAL Christmas at Ducky Does TV
SUPERNATURAL creator Eric Kripke sat down with TVGuide to talk about next week’s “ A Very Supernatural Christmas” as well as how many episodes are left in the can (4 after Christmas) and more about Season 3. Wondering how the WGA Strike tinkers with the storyline for Season 3 and Season 4? Want to know what he thinks about Katie Cassidy’s underage drinking scenario and how it impacts the show? Want ot know what revelations are hiding in Sam and Dean’s upcoming flashbacks? Continue reading.
TV Guide: So what is the Supernatural take on Christmas?
Eric Kripke: I grew up loving Christmas specials; Rudolph, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town. I got it into my head that I wanted to do Supernatural’s version of a Christmas special. We wanted to be the first — and I’d imagine only — Christmas special complete with impalements, cannibalism and torture scenes. [Laughs] What I really rub my hands together in glee about is that we are far and away the most violent Christmas special in the history of television. That’s really fun. As we researched legends for the show, we came across this worldwide one about an anti-Claus — if God has the Devil, then Santa Claus has this creature. He stuffs his victims in sacks and takes them off to eat them.
TV Guide: Oh no, a really, really bad Santa!
Kripke:One of the things I’m really proud of in this episode is that the legend is one of our most accurate, not just in discussion of the anti-Claus, but also when you research Christmas you discover that the vast majority of Christmas traditions are actually pagan. So is Easter.
TV Guide: Isn’t that a little gutsy of you to point out on American TV?
Kripke: [Laughs] We just report the news.
TV Guide: Where do the pagans fit into the story?
Kripke: The implication of there being an anti-Claus means that there actually is a Santa Claus and the writers and I couldn’t quite bring ourselves to say that there was such a thing as Santa Claus. So we moved on to the Pagan god, which is called Hold Nickar. Generally thought to be the precedent to Santa Claus.
TV Guide: You have the violent cynical pagan holiday story but then you have moving flashbacks to the young Winchesters, don’t you?
Kripke: Yeah, it felt like such a natural to tie it into the Christmas episode. Those kids — Ridge Canipe plays Dean and Colin Ford, Sam — are-terrific. We love exploring the childhood of the boys and to be able to tell the story of the day that Sam lost his innocence not just that there was no such thing as Santa Claus but that there was such a thing as everything else, was too good an opportunity to pass up.
TV Guide: What kind of revelations are there in the boys past?
Kripke: It explains where Dean got his necklace that he wears in every single episode. It explains the beginning of Sam’s estrangement from his father and his indoctrination into the supernatural world. It’s quite a big moment.
TV Guide: How many episodes do you have left?
Kripke: Christmas will be Episode 8 and we will have four more before we go into repeats. If it ends in December, I think we’ll be able to pick back up in January without missing too many episodes, only one or two. If the strike heads off into January or God forbid, February, then we really need to have a conversation about how scaled back the season is going to be.
TV Guide: Will Sam’s quest to keep Dean alive be ongoing in those four episodes?
Kripke: Yeah. We actually spend a little more time with how Dean himself feels about going to Hell because right now he’s accepting that he’s going to Hell and he’s unwilling to do anything to stop it. That changes 180 percent in Episode 10. Something big happens to him that makes him realize he desperately wants to live and he desperately doesn’t want to go to Hell. We also have a great Groundhog day episode coming up.
TV Guide: Where a day keeps repeating itself?
Kripke: Sam basically wakes up every day and it’s the same day and Dean dies at the end of every single day. It’s actually quite funny. Dean dies maybe 10 different ways on camera, and off camera, maybe he dies 200 different ways. Sam doesn’t go through just three or four Tuesdays, he goes through something like 150 Tuesdays. We have a great witch episode and we have a big mythology episode where we pay off the Agent Hendrickson storyline in a very climactic way.
TV Guide: What’s happening with Ruby and Bella?
Kripke: Ruby is appearing in that episode with Hendrickson; she’s also appearing in the witch episode. We reveal something pretty surprising about her backstory. She’s a demon, and we learn a lot about demons and how they came to be demons. Bella makes an appearance in a dream episode, where Sam and Dean take this medicine man drug where they go dream walking, which is going into other peoples’ dreams. So we spend the majority inside Bobby’s dreams, inside Dean’s dreams,
TV Guide: Your fans seem to hate any woman who comes on the show. Are they coming around?
Kripke: My fans are a protective bunch. I hope we’re winning them over. Last season, they had such issues with the character Jo. And privately, I thought the character as we wrote her wasn’t working out. This season, I love both these girls and both these characters. They’re really interesting and bring something different to the table.
TV Guide: I have to ask you about Katie Cassidy’s (Ruby) arrest-underage drinking, lying to a cop. How has that affected the show?
Kripke: I don’t have anything to say about that. It hasn’t affected the show at all.
TV Guide: Are you planning for Dean’s future to be resolved this season? If the strike allows it, of course.
Kripke: We have this storyline that we’re building towards — whether Dean goes to Hell and what’s really happening to Sam, dovetails together in a really surprising and satisfying way. If we have a full season, Dean’s time will come up and we’ll definitely answer what team Sam is going to be fighting for. If we have a half a season, stay tuned for Season 4. So we’re excited by that story and we hope to tell it this year.
TV Guide: What can we look forward to with post-strike eps?
Kripke: There’s a fun one where we bring back the Hellhounds, the bumbling ghost hunters back from Season 1. The whole show is an episode of their reality show. So we’re shooting an entire show on hand-held video Blair Witch-style. Like when X-Files did their episode of Cops. It’s our loving tribute to Ghosthunters on Sci Fi.
